Why my camera cannot connect wireless

Q: Why my camera cannot connect wireless?

A: Normally, camera cannot connect WIFI mainly due to wrong settings. Please check the
following points:
1) When you click scan button, can the camera find router’s WIFI signal? (should find)
2) When you set SSID for camera, please set it the same as SSID of your router;
3) Wireless key should be the same with router’s wireless key;
4) Whether disable mac address filter or not; (should disable, if you enable mac address filter, please
add the camera’s wireless mac address in the allow list)
5) Whether camera is too far from router?(In normal home environment, keep the distance not beyond
20m is better)
6) Check the antenna of the camera fixed well or not.

please check when you click scan button, camera can detect the WIFI signal or not. (Normally, it need
scan two or more than two times) If it can find, you can click the SSID of your router in the wireless list,
then SSID, encryption will be filled in the following boxes automatically. It only need enter the wireless key.
if the camera cannot scan router’s WIFI signal, please fill in SSID, encryption and wireless key manually
to try.
if all the wireless settings have no problem, but the camera still cannot connect WIFI, please try other
encryption, even without encryption to test; put the camera near your router to test. If it still can’t connect,

  1. I’ve been able to setup my five (three F18918W and two F18905W) cameras seamlessly in my home wireless LAN. I setup alarms, e-mail alerts and I was even able to connect to them from an external internet connection directly through my home IP address from the ISP or using the DYDNS.com URL.
    I was also able to connect from an I-Pad (with two different apps) with no issues. For some reason, after connecting with the I-pad and simultaneously attempting to access the cameras through my home LAN (using a different user name), the external connections are now locked and I cannot access my cameras from outside internet connections. I’ve tried many things including resetting my router to factory settings, disabling the router firewall, disabling security features, re-assigning ports to the cameras (8080, 8081, etc), resetting camera parameters but nothing seems to work.

    Please help!!!

    What am I missing? The cameras are operating perfectly with alarms, e-mails, video recordings to a drive, etc….the outside connection is not taking place (after I attempted to access the cameras from different locations)

      Hi Ricardo,

      Please reset your cameras while it is plugging in power.
      way of resetting F18918W: Use a slim toothpick thrusting into the reset spot at the buttom of the camera

      way of resetting F18905W: press on the button at the end of the cable which sits along with the power cable.

      This method whould erase any information your cameras have memorized.

      The IP address you obtain from whatismyip.com is changing all the time so please make sure you get your current IP exactly

        No luck…

        I noticed that the UPNP connection with the camera is not established. Maybe this is it?
